What it bets
Price gaps away from the prior close, and a short stretch after the open holds the gap, so that direction still continues.
How the rule is written
The open forms a gap against the prior close. If price holds one side of the gap, trade with the gap. If the gap fills completely, the trade is negated. A gap in crypto has to be defined first, because many markets trade almost without a pause. It can be a change of session, the first print after an abnormal halt, or the open of a session you define.
When it fails
Most gaps fill eventually. Trading with the gap, without a written rule to leave once it fills, takes the whole loss of the fill.
Do not confuse it with
Gap fill bets that the gap will close. The direction is the opposite. The two cannot share one signal that only says a gap exists.
